Nexa: Proof of Fair Launch
The incredible thing about blockchains and cryptographic technology is that it provides the perfect opportunity to prove timelines of events. Thanks to this we are able to prove that:
- Nexa had no pre-mine,
- Nexa had no allocated coins going to the team,
- Everyone had equal ability to mine Nexa from the moment it was launched.
Timeline
NextChain Testnet - May 6th 2020
Andrew Stone launched a testnet blockchain called “NextChain” for advance blockchain features that were not approved to go into the Bitcoin Cash blockchain due to it’s conservative governance. This test chain had all the features that Bitcoin Unlimited were developing put into it to test their viability. This was live and fully open-source until Nexa launched.
Plan Announced For A New Cryptocurrency - May 18th 2021
Andrew Stone submitted a proposal to Bitcoin Unlimited for voting by the membership, making a case for B.U. to launch their own cryptocurrency. Included in this proposal is a clause stating that “Fair launch – no premined coins go to Bitcoin Unlimited, the blockchain’s creator, or its developers, and there will be no coinbase tax.”. This became a legally binding document when passed in favour and a proposal that must be implemented by the organisation.
The Public Nexa Telegram Group Was Launched - May 30th 2022
The public Nexa Telegram group was launched on May 30th 2022, almost exactly one year after the proposal for Nexa was put forward by Andrew Stone. It was a public group and anyone who we thought would be interested in Nexa we invited to the group. You can go back and see all the discussions before, during, and after launch in the group.

The Nexa Genesis Block Was Mined - 21st June 2022 12:00 UTC+0
The big event happened and Nexa officially went live on June 21st 2022 at 12:00 UTC+0. You can see this on our blockchain explorer. To prove that this block had not been mined in the past, two pieces of information were included. The first is: Reuters: Japan PM Kishida backs BOJ ultra-easy policy while yen worries mount” This is an extract from an article published on the Reuters news site on 21st June 08:57 UTC+0. The second is: BTC:741711:000000000000000000075f4bc08e1d78a3ab3af8274d13334c0ac2de25309768 This is the hash of bitcoin block 741711 which has been mined on 11:17 of the 21th of June 2022 Unless Bitcoin Unlimited has invented a time machine, it is not possible that this genesis block could have been mined earlier than the pieces of information included in this block.
The Nexa Source Code Was Publicly Released - 21st June 12:06 UTC+0
The Nexa full-node source code was released publicly on Gitlab on June 21st 12:06 UTC+0. Anyone was able to use this code to create the full-node and start mining Nexa on their CPU. The commit that was merged to achieve this was 36613db5c43719e50df4a7b704289a5d33598ed7 (tag: nexa1.0.0.0) and the merge was fca4b9e3c 30e6c5d72.
